Julie Hutchinson is a Senior Lecturer in the Adult Migrant English Program TAFE SA.
Julie has broad experience in the private and public sector in the field of Adult Education specialising in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
As an educator committed to changing the lives of refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, and skilled migrants Julie has wholeheartedly devoted her time with passion to inspire the learners and educators with whom she works. Her experience in developing successful courses with measurable employment outcomes and study pathways at TAFE SA demonstrates Julie’s commitment to empowering students as they navigate their way through their new Australian home. This context is her fundamental belief that all students have the right to the best education leading to their fullest potential.
Julie is dedicated to the creation of systems, collaboration, feedback loops, self-regulation, and digital technology to improve programs.
Julie has worked at every level as an educator in the AMEP and in Foundation Skills TAFE SA, including the Diploma of English Proficiency. She wrote a successful Fee For Service course for TAFE SA ‘Advanced Speaking and Listening’ in which she tapped into her own education and acting career. She has been involved in creating resources, an online educational website- enjoyed and used across Asia, and more recently has contributed to the success of the AMEP LEARN Courses, TAFE SA’s Learning Management System.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Adult Vocational Education and Workplace Learning specialising in TESOL and Post Graduate studies in TESOL from the University of South Australia. Julie’s commitment to understanding speech related issues for EAL learners led her well on her way through a Masters of Speech Pathology at the Flinders University of Adelaide. Her dedication and commitment to the AMEP and TAFE SA has kept her busy over 18 years postponing her studies to focus on her position as Senior Lecturer in the Adult Migrant English Program.
